“Champaign.” He acknowledged, reaching for the glass.
Faith stopped him with a shake of her head. Her lips pursed. He watched hypnotized as she ran a finger around the lip of the glass before dipping inside. Then lifting her hand, a single drop of the beverage fell into her opened mouth. Below his waist, Thaddeus felt himself rise.
“Ummm,” Her throat warbled the sound as she plunged her finger back into the drink, and then held it aloft for the second time.
Thaddeus needed no coaxing. He opened his mouth and allowed the nectar to fall into his lips. Peach, it tasted of peach. As she pulled away, he reached out and took her finger into his mouth. With slow diligence, his tongue began to stroke the single digit of her hand. First, down one side, then across to the other, finally he rolled his tongue around the length of it and drew firm against the skin.
It pleasured him to watch Faith’s lashes make a slow descent to her cheeks as the heat of passion painted her neck. She moved with his tongue to the left then to his right. Afraid she might fall, he placed his hands against her hips to steady her. His fingers felt the sudden attraction of lace. It seemed only natural to draw the material into a bunch and move it in slow circles against her. He could hear her breath increase with each rotation.
“Faith,” he whispered when he at last let go of her finger.
Her eyes opened and she stared at him. Her lips twitched, but did not break into a smile. It took three deep breaths, her breasts struggling to break free from the material that bound them, before she could answer. And when she did, it was only three words.
“Your drink, sir.”

Coming soon Holding on to Hope Book two of Sweetbrier expected in early 2009. Here is an unedited excerpt.

Hope leaned her head upon her knees a pleasant expression filled her face. “You haven’t told me why Panther’s Landing?”
“Ah, I haven’t, have I?” Jonathan drew a deep breath and sat up. “I chose Panther’s Landing for two reasons.”
“Two is a good number.”
“One, because Dr. Griffin and I worked together in the army and I owe him a great deal.”
“And the second?”
“The second, because out here, there are no memories to haunt my nights.”
She looked at him. Her face grew sober. “Your wife haunts you?”
“Not so much Suzanna, but what might have been.”
She watched his finger trace the blanket. Hope could feel a tug on her heartstrings. Leaning back, she laid her head against the wool and gazed into his face.
“I hear, if, is one of the largest words in the dictionary.”
“Hum,” he answered deep in thought.
Hope reached out and touched his hand. “You can’t build new bridges with seeds of doubt.”
He grinned and pulled her right hand toward him. “Is that what I’m doing? Planting seeds of doubt?”
She responded with a coy smile.
As he watched her, the color of the flames illuminated her skin. A blush of peach, the iridescent blue of her eyes going from light to dark, his eyes moved further down her face toward her mouth, cherry red and luscious. As he stared at her lips, they parted and her tongue hungrily moistened the dry flesh. Jonathan inwardly groaned.
He wanted her. God help him, he wanted to bury himself into her body and rock her just as her tempting looks fanned the heat of his passion. Sprawled across the blanket, her hair some pulled from its placement curled from the dampness around her face. An arm cast above her head and her face upturned to stare at him waiting to be kissed. Rolling to his stomach, he dropped a hand around her waist.

waiting for Christmas

the day before, the day before, the day before, THE DAY
One of the great things about being a child and anticipating the holidays is the WAIT. When our fledgelings were young, we’d hear the question, “Is it Christmas yet?” So we devised things for the last five days to do.

Oh course on the day before the day, before the day ,before the day, before the day, before the day, beforeTHE DAY 9 ( 5 days before Christmas) we’d make the big sign to welcome SANTA with of course all the days before the day. On this poster the children would put one big wish they had. And we’d gather and watch a Charlie Brown’s Christmas on dvd.

4 days out (day before the day, before the day, before the day, before THE DAY) and yes every morning we’d greet them with that. Which was OUR way of driving them crazy. Was cookie day. Each child was allowed to make his favorite cookie. Which meant they got to mix, lick the pan, order the other siblings around and monitor the time. That night, we’d watch Its a Wonderful Life and tie jingle bells on our shoes so all the angels could get their wings before the holidays.

3 days ( the day before the day, before the day, before THE DAY) was wrap day.. children would go into the room wrap their gifts for their siblings and then we’d go to the store and each child had five dollars to buy can goods for the soup kitchen to help those less fortunate.

2 days ( the day before , the day before, THE DAY) Presents beneath the tree for family. This was our day to go out and see the sites. We were lucky enough to have a nursery which decorated with movible figures and we’d have out waffles and go out walk through look at all the decorations then have lunch at a fast food joint since that is a treat. That night would be other movies such as The Santa Clause Movie and string popcorn and whole cranberries for the birds or use peanutbutter and pine cones then layer on the bird seed.

1 day ITS NOW OFFICIALLY THE DAY BEFORE THE DAY

early rises we clean the house so Santa won’t fall over anything and clean out toy boxes. Toys we don’t want to keep are taken to homeless shelters, broken toys tossed, and favorites boxed saved and placed in the attic. That night we have pizza cause Momma is cooking for the next days f east and then its hot chocolate and we read Chris Van Allsburg’s THE POLAR EXPRESS and watch White Christmas then Momma gets to recite the Night Before Christmas…

Then as visions of sugar plums dance in their heads, my poppets are placed beneath the covers to sleep and dream of those prancing and pawing hooves on the roof…

Merry Christmas dear readers. May 2009 find you filled with peace and happiness. Yours, Nancy P. O’Berry

Sweeetbrier Academy poised for release

Tomorrow is release day at Red Rose Publishing and my story is one slated for release. Its very excigint and I can’t wait to see it out there. At this moment, the story is only on ebook with print to be announced by the publisher. That will really be awesome. Imagine having a book available at Amazon with an IBSN number, a copyright, title page, the whole kit and kaboodle. I have two more stories written that will be available sometime in the next year. I will of course let people know when these works will be released. Faith is the smallest of the three stories. I guess you can see she is a teaser of things to come. I know there is likely to be at least two to three more with a total of 6 Sweetbrier books. I’m looking forward to having fun with this series.
